The Casino

For the past few days my status regarding a trip we are taking to Foxwoods casino has been up in the air. Most of the management team of my company is going to celebrate a good year last year. Some of the Tech department cannot go since we are releasing a major product on friday morning. My role would be as backup in the event something went wrong with the infrastructure. Today Gus decided that I can go to the casino after all since I have a cell phone and the hotel has high speed internet. Gus and Bob will stay back in NYC and go up to the casino Friday afternoon.

This is good for me. With Gus gone I have one less good poker player to contend with on Thursday nights game we are scheduling!!!

I now have to go home and do laundry and then pack. We leave Thursday afternoon at 3PM.

The Birthday That Was

My birthday turned out better than I expected. I ended up going to my sisters place for little while since my friend Rich had to work late and Carrie wanted to see me on my birthday. I got to see Morgan (she is running now) and Mike. Carrie got me a pizza size cookie. it was good. I ended up bringing it to work today since it was so big. I was never going to finish it.

Amanda cooked Rich and I dinner. We had some fillets. They were good. For someone who does not eat or cook meat, Amanda knows how to cook meat! Even the cheese and crackers were good!

The best part was the chocolate volcano desert. It is this individual size cake with molten chocolate in it. It explodes like a volcano the first time you cut into it. I burned my mouth on the liquid Hershey chocolate inside. Mmmm burning chocolate. It was fantastic.

Amanda was not to happy. She cut her hand on a knife, had the bathroom flood, and she claims she ruined the desert. It was a stressful night for her, but it turned out great. Thanks guys.

And to finish the day off, it did snow. For that matter it snowed today also. Doesn’t anyone know that spring starts next week?

I Don’t Feel Any Older

Well today is my birthday, and I don’t feel any older. I was a bit depressed going into today since this is my 30th, but now I don’t feel that bad. I am going to fill myself up with sugar at starbucks in a little while and let the day go by. Hopefully nothing major breaks and today is not too stressful. What are the odds on that actually happening?

No snow yet. I am told it really will snow at some time today. I await the white stuff. I like snow as long as it does not disrupt my commute to or from work.

Powerbook Update

I have to say my original assessment is correct. it does run cooler than the older models. It is not uncomfortable to use after a while like the old one was. I only have 256megs of ram and so far it has been fine. I haven’t needed to bump it up to 512 or a Gig of memory. It could use a bigger hard drive, but that would have been a special order and I didn’t want to buy the laptop direct from apple or wait 3 weeks for it. Battery life is ok, but I am comparing it with my Thinkpad with a Pentium M that sips the power and lasts hours.

I am on the hunt for a bluetooth mouse for the powerbook. I cannot find a good one. I don’t like the apple 1 button mouse so that is out. the only other one that works for the mac, a belkin one I believe had a bad review. I would really like one that I can use between a PC and a Mac. Oh to dream

If I haven’t mentioned it before (I have) my Powerbook using Kung-Log is my Blogging system of choice. I do allot on the train (doing that right now). The keyboard is just great on this thing.

Why I Don’t Like Politics Most Of The Time

I am never one to be very political. It is a very polarizing topic. But I had to say something about the latest headlines between Kerry & Bush. Kerry claims that foreign leaders told him privately that they hope he wins over bush in November. Bush says if Kerry doesn’t say who, he made the whole thing up. OK, come on people. The odds that one or more leader of the many governments that disagree with Bush probably did say something to Kerry, but if it was in confidence do you really think Kerry will say anything? Of course not. Story over. Kerry probably should have kept his mouth shut. Can both sides get back to the issues?

A White Birthday???

Tomorrow is my birthday. It is supposed to snow 5-8 inches in NYC tomorrow. It was 50 something today. Is the big guy sending me a sign? I don’t know, but it sure is weird that it was hot today and will probably snow tomorrow.

I am so tired from today. I am going home and lying down. Maybe if I am awake I will do my laundry. That remains to be seen. Of course if I need closes to last the week I will do it. I am away Thursday through Saturday so I wont have time later in the week to do it. I am out tomorrow night at Rich’s so I can’t do it then. That leaves tonight and Wednesday.

Migraine Alert

My migraine from yesterday did not fully go away. I had to take a furiset today. it made me feel better but taking the medication is never good. I am getting renewed pressure from my family to see the head ache specialist again. I need to make an appointment.

Birthday Dinner, Well Almost

I was supposed to go to Peter Luger’s for dinner with my family tonight to celebrate my birthday. That got canceled. I woke up this morning with a headache and it developed into a migraine. I took Zomig, but it didn’t work. I ended up sleeping most of the afternoon. Once I got up I was feeling ok and was thinking about still doing dinner. Little did I know that my dad called about an hour and a half before the reservations and figured if I didn’t answer the phone I was still sleeping the migraine off. he said if I was still asleep I was still not feeling well and canceled the reservations. He was of course correct, but I wanted to get some steaks. We are rescheduling for 2 weeks. My brother in law and my dad both have to work next sunday, and this week is bad for everyone so we cannot go during the week.

Because of the migraine I did very little today. I had a food delivery from Fresh Direct, and looked at a server problem after my afternoon nap.

Of course it is now 10:30PM and I am not tired since I slept most of the day due to the migraine. I am hoping to goto sleep soon so I can try and get a normal nights sleep.

Air Hockey

I went to Jillian’s last night with Alison. That place is a fun diversion, but only after 10PM. Before 10, it is filled with kids. After 10, it is 21 and over. I had a good time even though I got beaten at air hockey 3 times:( I would be lying if I said it was a close three games. I got beat bad 2 out of 3 of them. I am going to stick with Skee ball and foose ball. Not sure if that is how you spell it, but I always liked foose ball. Of course I blame the lack of alcohol on my air hockey loss.

We had dinner at TGI Fridays. As homer simpson would say: Mmmmm jack Daniel’s grill.

Comments On The Blog

I have been comment spammed for the last time. I have turned off comments on this post and all future posts. If I can figure out how to go back and automatically turn off comments for my old posts I will. I got my last penis enlargement comment, or stupid comments from some dumbass that has nothing to do with the post they are commenting on.

I have had some cool responses, and I thank everyone for those. The problem is that the good posts don’t make it worth dealing with all the crap.
