A Sad Fish Day

Jayson called me while I was out. He told me the bad news. Carl our angel fish didn’t make it. Foul play is not ruled out. Krusty has now survived 2 other fish. We are beginning to investigate. We may partially responsible. We have tropical fish but no heater. Jayson noticed the dead fish when he returned from the store with our new heater.

Carl wasn’t with us long enough to get a photo of him. Bye bye little guy… This is why we shouldn’t name fish until they live in the tank for like 2 weeks. That way we don’t waste good names on dead fish.

Enough mourning. Where is Carl II?

So Far I am Successful

I have been able to avoid work for most of the day! I got up at noon (NICE!!!). I unplugged my pager, and shut off my cell phone to ensure a good sleep. I forgot to turn off my alarm, so I got up at 7:30. Turned off the alarm and went back to bed. It felt good. I had lunch. Got my fresh direct order. I watched TV. I pretty much did nothing. And I am enjoying every minute of it.

I am about to go out and walk to Best Buy (love manhattan), and maybe hit the Cold Stone Creamery on the way back. That place rocks…

Tonight I may have a drinking engagement. I love vacation weekends!

New Fish

Wednesday we added to our fish tank at work. It set me back a pretty penny, but the tank is looking good. Jayson got like 7 pounds of the living rock. I got a bicolor angel fish. We named him Carl to go along with our Simpson’s naming convention. So far Carl is shy and hides under the filter. Jayson is going to get a heater since the water is probably too cold for the tropical fish we have.

My luck we get into a hobby/pet that costs so much money. I will take photos of the fish when I get back to the office on Tuesday. We are also working on a FishCam since we have a web cam at work. No eta on that.

I just find it funny that I am doing google searches on angel fish care.

The Website Name Game

I have a slight dilemma on my hands. Until yesterday my blog’s web address used to start with blog.sitename. Due to what appears to be a limitation (or my lack of figuring out how to do it after 2 hours) on my new providers system doesn’t like sites starting with blog. I can use any domain but I have to point the www.sitename.com to my blog. I don’t really want to start the site with www. as my blog home page. So the dilemma is what domain do I use? I have several, and I don’t know which one is more catchy.

What do I do? I am thinking it over. Hopefully I can finish my pondering and make a decision soon. I am opening comments if anyone actually reads this and posts an opinion.

Another Sleepless Night?

It is 11PM and I am not tired yet. I am not going to work so I don’t have to worry about getting up early. I just wish I can have normal sleeping habits again. Now I am just bored. I watched a bunch of stuff on my Tivo. I have checked my email. I even ordered Freshdirect for tomorrow.

Taking The Day Off

I am taking the day off tomorrow. I have no plans, other than taking the day off. I may just lie around. I may go and do something productive. What I won’t be doing is going to work, or answering my cell phone for work.

I wonder how long this plan will stay in effect?

Blog Redesign

Now that I have moved to a new hosting provider (Typepad) I have decided to try out a new layout of this blog. I am now using a 3 column layout with links and lists on the left as you can see. Not sure how much use I will get out of the list function once the novelty wears off, but I am trying it out now.

I like the subtle color scheme instead of the in your face yellow and black I used to have. I liked that scheme too, but this new look seems cleaner.

Expect more tweaks and changes over the next few weeks.

I Cannot Sleep

I am not able to sleep. I am going to try and lie down in a few minutes. I know I won’t be able to get up for work on time if I don’t get some sleep soon. I hate not being able to sleep. I have been having issues for the past week and half or more.

Must try….

The Blog Has Moved

I have taken the plunge. I have left my cushy free hosting provider. My friend had a problem with his linux server. I almost lost 2 months worth of posts. That was a big scare, but not the reason I moved. In the end Gus got the box up and I was able to backup my stuff. If I didn’t have a backup that was my fault anyway.

Gus now has to rebuild that box at some point. I will be down for that. That was a motivating factor in my decision. The simple fact is I have been eyeing a different solution for my blog for some time. I actually am now trying out SixApart’s (If you are from mars, they make MoveableType) Typepad. Typepad is a pay service, but they offer more functionality than the free moveabletype. Most of my website now consists of just my blog entries, so I am trying the free trial out. Then if I like it I will fork over the nine bucks or so a month for the hosting.

The one problem I have run into is the fact that I cannot get blog.Scott.ac to resolve to the new typepad site. Turns out they offer domain aliasing but only for www.sitename.com, not somethingelse.sitename.com. I am going to email them and see if they can get this to work. I don’t want to redirect my entire site to my blog. If I cannot get typepad to resolve blog.Scott.ac, then I will loose all my links and people wont find the site. Not that many people view it, but it will be annoying.

I am trying out a new look on the Typepad site. Not as out there as the yellow and black look of the old site. Let me know what you think.

The Picnic

I had a good time at the company picnic on Sunday. We had it in upstate NY. The company rented a bus and brought the NYC people up there. We had a good time. The place was very nice. They had a lake, a pool and lots of open land.

Our NYC softball team played the Kingston people in a game. It was fun. I got really sore from running. I didn’t even run that much, but I am out of shape. I didn’t realize how out of shape until I ran that little and could barely walk afterward.

It was a nice day. it was not too hot out. I got to jump in the bouncy gym by myself. I didn’t get egg on me from the egg toss. And I ate allot of BBQ hamburgers and hot dogs.

I got a lift home with Glenn instead of taking the bus back to the office. Got dropped off a block from my place. Not bad.
