Treo 600 Finally, Well Almost

Yesterday Handspring (PalmOne) finally started taking pre orders of the Treo 600 for T-Mobile. I finally placed an order for mine. I got it for the discount price but I now have to wait at least a month until it actually ships. They won’t ship till early march. Who knows when that will be. hopefully I will have it by my birthday.

It was about time too. My Treo 270’s battery doesn’t hold a charge as long as it used to. it still lasts an entire day with usage, but since I am using the data services, I am sucking down the juice.

In the interum I got my old T-68i unlocked. I just got it in the mail today. It now works with my T-Mobile SIM. I can use that instead of my Treo until the new Treo arrives.

Back From Kingston Again

I am on the train back from Kingston, again. I went up for 2 days since we are short handed on the support side up there. I spent most of today interviewing people for a help-desk position. Yesterday was taken up by miscellaneous issues. I always try to bring up work from NYC when I goto kingston. And every time I do, I end up getting none of it done. This trip was no different.

The work keeps piling up. I hope to clean out my backlog tomorrow, if possible.

On the plus side, the posts from today were written on my new Powerbook on the train. I can once again blog while in transit!!!

The New 12″ Powerbook

So knowing I was getting a tax return I went out and ordered myself a new 12″ Powerbook. I probibly didn’t “need” it, but I wanted one. It is in addition to my iMac. I wanted the Powerbook for the commute, and around the house. I find that I do like to write away from my desk. Since I had “found” money I splerged and got the new 1gighertz Powerbook. It is almost like the one I had before but faster. I also think it runs a bit cooler. that was a problem with the old one.

I didn’t get the DVD burner since I have the super drive on my imac.

The only problem is that out of the box the dam hindge that locks the screen in place when you close it is broken. Apple wont exchange it for a new one, so I have to get it fixed. That may mean up to a week of not having the laptop. I am not happy, but lets just hope they fix it. I am hoping to take it to the apple store in SoHo and see if they can fix it onsite.

More on my support issues as they develop.

Death And Tax’s

Well, I did my tax’s for 2003. Turns out the government owed me a bunch of money. This year I once again used turbo tax. One of the best programs ever. I didn’t have a complicated return so I used the software.

Everything including the filing was done online. I should see my return direct deposited to my bank account in like 10 days. It is awsome. When you are getitng back money, doing your tax’s is not so bad!

Lack Of Sleep

Due to stuff going on at work that requires me to be up past midnight my sleep habits are all screwed up this week. I got up at 8:30AM today. I got up at 9AM yesterday after working till after 1AM. What is wrong with me? I hope to get a good night sleep tonight so I can be fresh for work on Monday.

Free Gifts

As a thank you for all the crazy work we have been doing, my company took Keith and I to Best Buy and we got gifts. To tech guys this is a very good thing!!! We both got HP Ipaq 1945’s. Keith was going to get a portable DVD player but the check out girl said some bad things about it, so he got the same pocket pc that I was going for. I had the 1910 before but it didn’t have bluetooth so I got rid of it for my Treo 270. I like the pocket pc, but wouldn’t have gone out and gotten one on my own. As a gift it was a nice surprise.

I got out my old Xircom Realport2 Bluetooth card, and am trying to configure it to sync with the pocket pc. I am also getting my Sony Ericsson T-68i unlocked so I can use it with the bluetooth on the pocket pc. I will play with this setup until T-Mobile finally releases the Treo 600 sometime in March.

Normally we get steak dinners for our major projects, but this was a very nice change of pace. It is nice to get recognition for job’s well done!!!

Went To Kingston

Took the day and went up to kingston to work. I got allot done. I also learned allot about what goes on day to day up there, and what the employee’s need from a support perspective. The weather was on my side and I was able to be home by 7:30PM.

The Furniture Move

I got my new furniture friday as planned. It looks as good or better than I anticipated. Most of my stuff is put away now. I only have 1 issue with were to put all my home entertainment components. My Tivo & DVD player don’t fit where I wanted them to go. I need to cut a hole in the back of the wall unit in order to move them somewhere else. Other than that things look good. I need to hang my large map now that I know where my couch is. I have a massive map of the US with marks on every city I have been to. It was fun doing and is nice to have around. I will probably move my DVD collection to the new wall unit also. It will make room in my front closet where they are now.

I need to have my old wall unit removed. it is in pieces in the corner of my living room while I figure out what to do with it.

The really big foot rest in my bed room is making it hard to walk around, but it goes with my new comfy chair so I am torn with what to do with it. I pushed it against the wall and am hoping it is out of the way. You really need someplace to put your feet up on when you sit in a comfy chair. My Pier 1 chair had a small foot rest. That chair is now on my patio. it will be for warmer weather use outside.
