Off to a comedy club in the snow!
Long Day And Then Out With Friends
Today I worked from an office I don’t normally work out of. I had several meetings up there, as well as lunch plans so it made sense to be nomadic somewhere other than my normal office. A day that started out only having a handful of meetings turned into a completely packed day filled with stuff going on an minor issues cropping up all over the place. I was barely able to get out after 5, and was only able to do that because I was riddling off emails on the blackberry on the train.
After work I headed down to hang out with Mike, Stanley, Ben and others for a few rounds before heading home to relax after a long week.
A New Blackberry Curve
When I got home from the taping of the Daily Show last night I returned to a box containing my new Blackberry Curve 8310. Since I started my new job in September I have been lazy in researching how to order one. Over the holidays I finally broke down and realized I needed one to stay up to date with the contestant barrage of mail I get. So now I once again have to carry two phones, since I won’t give up my personal number. It has been almost 8 months since I had a Blackberry I used every day. I almost didn’t miss it.
I have a slightly newer model Curve from what I used at Redcats. The only major difference I see is that this new one has GPS built in, and is a titanium color. I am still trying to figure out what applications I want for it.
The Daily Show
Tonight I went to a taping of the Daily Show With John Stewart. Jayson, Scott, Nick, and I braved the freezing cold and rain for about 3 hours to see the taping. John Stewart is really funny and I love the Daily Show so I jumped at the chance to go when Jayson said he got tickets. It was allot of waiting for about 45 minutes of watching, but I wouldn’t have missed it.
In order to make it there in time to stand in line I had to do a few conference calls from Jayson’s office in the afternoon. That was a bit cramped but I was able to get all the work I needed done and still make the taping so things worked out.
Scotch And Appetizers
Today I headed over to Pound & Pence Pub to meet up with my friend Kristen. I hadn’t seen Kristen in over a year and it was good to get together and catch up. We relaxed out of the freezing cold over an assortment of Scotch’s and some appitizers. It was a fun night. It wasn’t a very late night since we both had work the next day. I need to make more of an effort to stay in contact with friends.
On the work front things were busy today, and looks to be hectic the rest of the week.
Plans For The Week
I was so wiped out from working today I didn’t do anything after work. I am hopefully going to get to bed early. I am kind of happy to have a night to relax. I have plans almost every other night this week. Tomorrow, I have plans with an old friend I haven’t seen in ages. Wednesday, a bunch of friends are going to see a taping of the Daily Show. Thursday I have more plans. I think something is going on Friday and Saturday but I can’t recall. I am usually doing something a few times a week, but 6 days in a row is a bit uncommon. I usually like to throw a day to relax in there somewhere. Oh well.
Monday Back in The Grind
Today was a semi typical day at work. I am kind of thankful for that since it was the first day back of a full work week. I have to get used to a full work week again! I endured around 6 hours of meetings, several issues and some minor excitement. Nothing too crazy, nor anything I can or will discuss on a public blog. I was just busy. It is funny being busy and almost never getting up from your desk except to pace while on the phone.
Today was a work from home day. That meant besides the 15 minutes I took to run across the street to get stuff to make lunch I was at my desk working. The only other real times I got up was when I was on a conference call hear or there and decided to pace. I don’t know why but I like to pace or walk around when on the phone. I have been doing it for as long as I can remember. In my apartment it is like doing laps.
Enjoying some scotch as I get ready for the work week
The Long Lingering Vacation is Over
For me most of the month of December was nice short 3 day weeks. Unfortnatly the last one of those is over in a few hours. Tomorrow starts the normal grind of a 5 day work week. I am winding down the week and getting ready for the week, but I am a little sad that the holiday is over.
Thankfully I felt OK today. I went to bed early last night since I started getting a migraine and then was forced to lie down. That is never fun, but thankfully sleeping it off helped. That left me today feeling normal.
On my last day off I spent most of the day cleaning up the clutter around my apartment. It is amazing how after only 2 or 3 days the place can become really messy. I also continued (hopefully concluded) my early spring cleaning. I got rid of two large garbage bags of stuff so hopefully things will remain neat and tidy. I did the laundry, and got a bunch of online shopping done to bang through my task list. Now all I need to do is start banging through my work tasks tomorrow in between 6 and a half hours of meetings.
On the plus side the last few nights have been decent night sleeps. That is a change for me so I was happy. Lets hope tonight is good as well. Sunday nights tend not to be. I am helping the sleep along with a little Johnny Walker Blue over some ice as I sit here and write. Hopefully my writing tonight is as smooth as this drink!
Happy to be home with my new cookware. Now off to find something to cook.
