Passover Night 1

Spent the night with my parents, sister, brother in law, his family, and my niece. We had dinner at my brother in law’s sisters apartment. It was nice. It was also nice that it was really close to my apartment. I wasn’t very hungry, and that was OK since I am not a big passover (or any other Jewish holiday food) food fan. I had a late lunch at like 3-4PM so I had very little. I didn’t even eat dessert.

Sad to say I was on my Blackberry a decent chunk of time at dinner getting updates from Jayson about a possible issue at work. Unfortunately the problem I thought was solved may not be. Not sure yet, but that is all I can say.

New, New Watch

I finally got my new Omega Speedmaster Professional X-33. it came in to the store and I picked it up on the 31st. I haven’t had a chance to write about it until now. It is basically the newer version of the one I had bought last year used. It was a bit more money (just a bit) but I was able to apply the price of the used on towards the new one. Having the warrantee, box and a brand new item really is better. I know I had a good deal on a used one, but with something that I use all the time and never leaves my side such as wrist watch I really want/need a new one that I can rely on.

So far it is working perfectly. Kind of like a precision swiss watch (sorry for the pun)! I will post photos in a few days. My original Speedmaster Professional (circa 1969) goes back onto the night stand as a backup. And yes I have become a watch guy, or so it seems. I used to be happy with my Timex indiglo, but I am now light years past them!

Long, Long Day

I had a really long stressful day at work. Absolutely nothing I can discuss here. I did write a long entry on my work blog, but since it is password protected and private it can’t be really discussed. Lets just say when I finally left the office it felt like I had ran a marathon. I was just physically and emotionally wiped out. I did get a chance to relax a bit in little Italy with Jayson, Scott, & Gretchen for dinner. They where cool enough to wait for me to finish work before ordering dinner. Thanks guys!

Due to one of the big issues I was working on today I am canceling my trip to our other office tomorrow. I need to make sure things are on track here.

I am still having trouble sleeping. I was up again last night. Not as long as some nights last week but it still sucked. It also didn’t help that I got woken up at a quarter to 1 with a problem at work. I wasn’t on the phone for long but the damage was done. I can’t get pissed about stuff like that because it is part of the job, but man I was actually sleeping. It is so rare these days. I was hoping for an early night tonight but it didn’t happen. I am off to bed now, but I wanted to write a bit before I goto bed. it does make me relax a bit when I write a little.

Brewery

Jayson’s brother Scott is in for a week on vacation. He stopped by the office and hung out for a while. The more I talk to him about some of the cool stuff he does at his job with NDS and ZEN I really wonder why we didn’t use it, then I remember that it is Novell. They do have some really cool remote deployment options.

With Scott in town, we meet up with John at Heartland Brewery for some drinks and food. Danny also came out for a bit to hang. It was a short, but rather expensive night for me. 1 drink, food, plus their awesome desert sets you back.

Still having trouble sleeping so I am trying to get to bed early.

The Waiting (For Food)

I am sitting here catching up on my blogging waiting for my Freshdirect deliver. I am hungry and I will hopefully fix lunch with some of the good food I ordered. I just have to wait. 1 hour 22 minutes left in my delivery window.

Friday Evening

Friday evening I was so tired I passed up going to see an alternative band with Gretchen & Jayson to just be lazy. Sort of glad I did. It turns out the band didn’t come on until midnight. So instead I ran home, dropped my bag off and went for a hair cut. I am finding if I go late enough that the place is not closing but it it will soon I don’t have to wait. I found this out by chance running late last time I went. That info is filed away as semi useful info.

Then I hit the local Liquor store and picked up a bottle of Godiva Original Chocolate liqueur. I got this weird habbit from my dad to have a nice shot or two of the stuff before I go to bed if I am tired and have trouble sleeping. You can replace the Godiva with anything really, but we both like chocolate and it tastes good. I ran out of the Starbucks Coffee liqueur that I had been using. Lets face it bed time is not the place to sip shots of Jack Daniels as much as I like it.

After that I just went to the grocery store for one or two things then I went home to relax. The day had been a bit stressful, so I was glad to be able to just watch a movie and relax.

No Sleep

The repetitive theme in my personal life recently has been lack of sleep. I am in the middle of a 2 week patch of no sleep, or what feels like no sleep. I am getting up early, getting up several times in the middle of the night, and just not feeling like I am able to goto sleep. I am not sure what the issue is but it is probably stress at work. That is usually the culprit.

Going to bed early doesn’t help. Trying to sleep in different positions hasn’t helped. Tylenol PM doesn’t help since I get very tired but apprehensive when I take it now, so I am just tired but awake.

My dad said he wouldn’t worry until I haven’t been able to sleep well for over a month, then I should see someone. That is great medical advise, but doesn’t make me feel any better. Hopefully it will pass.

Saturday Night In Queens

I was all ready for a nice night in Saturday when Jayson called and said John was meeting up with them and going to a bar in Queens. I figured what the hell, since I was done building my dad’s computer and I didn’t have to be up early Sunday. I got dressed and headed over to Jayson’s place. We all went to a decent irish pub by Jayson & Gretchen’s house. We hung out and drank, ate, and talked for hours. It was cool. I am still a light weight and got very buzzed off of 2 Jack & Cokes. Well I knew I was a light weight and I hadn’t eaten for hours when I had my first drink and a half so I guess that is a possible excuse!

It started raining when we left the pub so I tried to catch a cab, vs the bus or the train. I didn’t believe Jayson when he said that I could catch a cab easy on Queens Blvd. I was getting ticket off when I saw no cab’s for like 5 minutes, and then the first cab that showed up was empty and I hopped in. I got home very quick and the fare wasn’t too bad. Beat waiting for the bus and then trekking to the subway or just waiting for 2 trains late at night on a Saturday!

Overall a good night had by all!

Visiting The Parents

I was at my parents place today to finish my dad’s computer upgrade. My mom had me come out there earlier than I originally planned since she was worried that the work would take too long. Boy was she wrong. Since I did most of the loading of software and moving files at my apartment on Saturday we were done setting everything up in like 45 minutes. I ended up just hanging out in my dad’s La z Boy watching an old Bond film waiting to go out to dinner. Man can you fall asleep in those chairs. I almost did like 3 times, then I couldn’t walk for 15 minutes since my legs where so relaxed (and blood deprived) from being reclined for 2 hours. It was nice and comfy.

We ended up meeting Carrie and Morgan in Forest Hills for dinner at this little restaurant on Austin street. It was decent food and I got to see everyone except for Michael. I am just glad that the whole computer upgrade is completed. I hopefully wont have to worry about that again for another 2-3 years!

Tired

Plenty to write about, but I have just been busy and tired. I hopefully will write this weekend and catch up. I may even cheat and post date some entries! Off to bed for now.
