Friday With Friends

Friday I still felt like crap. I am getting these mild head aches. I say mild because I take the medication since I am afraid they will become full fledge migraines, and then the medication work and I just feel lousy for the rest of the day. I almost turned down plans to goto Amanda & Rich’s for dinner. Glad I didn’t. As always I had a good time. We ordered pizza and watched movies. Nice and low key. We saw 8 crazy nights and some other stuff. They are off next week to portland so they wanted to hang out.

I took a furiset at like 4:30, but didn’t really feel better until I drank a bottle of water around 7. Amanda gives great advise, even though she doesn’t listen to some herself sometimes. Amanda, if you are reading this chill about your friend. She is a freak, ignore her! Not worth your effort to worry.

Don’t know how they can drive 5+ hours to portland but they do.

I actually got out of work at 5ish also. I stopped by Gus and told him I was taking off early and he was like, yeah so am i. And we left.

Allot of people are out next week due to the holiday. I am in, but it should be a low key week since everyone else is out. Or so I keep telling myself that.

Jayson’s Wedding

So for a number of reasons I am unable to goto the big wedding in vegas the week of thanksgiving. Actually, from what I have been told it wont be that big. it will probably be a blast. I am planning on going down to visit in December. I haven’t seen jay, joe, or gretchen in ages.

I Survived My First Day Back

Well, I am tired and things were hectic for a while but I survived my first day back after being out for what felt like a long time. Keith was out sick today. Whatever I had is going around. Justin left early because he felt like crap also. I was left catching up on everything I missed since monday.

I fixed some call center issues. Did some sysadmin work that I don’t normally do. AKA tapes, and updating software versions for some applications we use. I don’t like having to do that all the time. Others are supposed to, but I do like doing it so I keep up on what is happening on my network. I learned that updating IPL’s (software we use to search for stuff) is still not hard, but you need to verify that it works before everyone can use it. I also learned that our new SDLT tape drive is still very cool, but very slow in loading and spitting out tapes.

I also configured Office 2003 Pro to autoinstall with paramiters I set. It is nice. Now if we upgrade (we can thanks to software assurance from Microsoft) I can easliy deploy it to my desktops. The real reason I was playing with the configuration was to get outlook 2003 to work with Exchange 2003 over HTTPS. Not there yet, but I am getting familure with the tools I need to do it correctly.

A bunch of people went out to No Idea for drinks after work. I went and had a coke. I was not ready to resume drinking after being so sick. I saw David P, and Jeff from my Y&R days. We were all pissed at each other since we work around the corner from one and other and I never see either of them. I really do want to see them, so I am trying to setup lunch with Jeff next week.

I am tired and going home. I caught the 7:29PM train out of Penn and hope to get lucky and catch a cab without waiting too long at the train station. It is hit or miss with the car service company, so we shall see.

My plan is to rest this weekend and be normal for next week.

And Another Long Lost Friend Emerges

So I was leaving the place where get my hair cut and I was stopped by some scruffy looking guy asking how I have been doing. I drew a blank. Now, I am up front about how I cannot remember people’s names, but usually recognize faces. Until he started talking I totally drew a blank. It was an old friend’s husband (still cannot remember the name, but see previous statement). He grew a go-tie and I totally didn’t recognize him. I know his wife cindy through one of my best friends Jayson. We used to talk and hang out allot a few years ago when I just got back from Baton Rouge. We lost touch over the past 2 years, but they were both really cool. He told me she still uses IM, and I will contact her. Good friends are hard to come by after all. Of course when I say I want to contact them again it brings to mind some of the reasons why I stopped talking to Cindy in the first place. Things seem better for them, so I will contact them and see what is going on.

Long Lost Friends

This week was a week of communicating with people who I have not spoken to in ages. I got an unexpected reply to my change of address email from my friend from college Marty Snyder. I haven’t spoken to him in like 3 years. He is married and expecting a kid. Wow, we are getting old.

I also IM’d my friend Steve. He is buying a house up in Albany. I am need to let him know when I am doing Kingston so I can see him and Jenn (his wife, and also a friend from school) when I am up there.

And I previously mentioned talking to Sean on MSN. For some reason he can use that at work, but not AIM.

I am also sending a really late wedding card to my friend lonnie. So hopefully we can get in touch also. I wasn’t planning on speaking with all these people, but it is a pleasant surprise.
