Life, Kids, Technology & that move to another continent
I have been comment spammed for the last time. I have turned off comments on this post and all future posts. If I can figure out how to go back and automatically turn off comments for my old posts I will. I got my last penis enlargement comment, or stupid comments from some dumbass that has nothing to do with the post they are commenting on.
I have had some cool responses, and I thank everyone for those. The problem is that the good posts don’t make it worth dealing with all the crap.
In recent history my website (except the lovely blog you are currently reading) has been languishing in disrepair. I think it is a nice little site, but I have done no new content or anything in a while. I have added one or two pages to the photo site, but that is it.
I am trying to think of what to do with the site. I still haven’t come up with anything. I am always trying to improve the interface on my Photo site, but other than that I have nothing. I want to get my access DB back online so I can query my DVD collection on my site. that is really only for me, but it is a cool function.
With the Powerbook back, this is my first blogging session on the LIRR since I sold my old Powerbook in November. Jayson took an early train. I had stuff to do and I also wanted to get a quick hair cut, so I took a later train. With no one to talk to, I get to do some blogging. I haven’t done allot recently.
I still have a stuffy nose and a dry throat today. I think it is because of the dry heat in my apartment. I left my heat on high 2 nights in a row and I was bad ever since. I thought it was a cold last week, but I was fine Saturday and Sunday. It has to be an alergy or the heat. Of course I am not a doctor so what do I know?
I am on the train back from Kingston, again. I went up for 2 days since we are short handed on the support side up there. I spent most of today interviewing people for a help-desk position. Yesterday was taken up by miscellaneous issues. I always try to bring up work from NYC when I goto kingston. And every time I do, I end up getting none of it done. This trip was no different.
The work keeps piling up. I hope to clean out my backlog tomorrow, if possible.
On the plus side, the posts from today were written on my new Powerbook on the train. I can once again blog while in transit!!!
This is my first post from my newly formatted iMac. I had problems with it crahsing allot so I decided to reformat the drive and start over. I thought it was a software issue. It is begining to look like I either setup the software in the same way, or I am having a hardware issue since my problem is still happening. I have most of my settings recovered but it won’t be perfect for some time. I am just pissed that it is still crashing…

I have become a bad blogger. I have not posted in a week. And it feels like to me I don’t post as often as I used to. It is not from lack of things to talk about. Just lack of time or inclination to sit down after I get home and write. I don’t write on the train anymore. I am going to try and fix that.
UPDATE FOR THE WEEK:
Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday I had a headache each day. I took some bextra and furiset to stop the Migraine. Wednesday it didn’t really work, but the other days I was at least able to make it through the day. Today I don’t feel 100% but I am still planning on going out tonight.
I finally got a date to get my furniture. My mom actually setup the move. She wanted the stuff out of her place so she setup the move. She knows I am busy so all I have to do is write a check. My dad and I will supervise the move next week. I need to destroy my old living room wall unit to make room for my new one. half of me wants to keep what I have, but it is not in good shape and the new one is so much nicer.
I finally went out and I am trying Macromedia Flash MX. I have used dreamweaver and fireworks, but never mastered flash. Most of my website (my regular website, not the blog) is done with fireworks, and dreamweaver after I abandoned Frontpage XP last year.
I also updated some pages on my site using fireworks. They were only minor changes, but I haven’t worked on the site (except for the blog) for a while. Long weekends are good like that. I get to do stuff that I don’t normally get time for.
My next home computer project is to setup apache on a linux box (my dad gave me his old dell desktop to use) or on my new iMac. I also want to setup MYSQL on a machine so I can access my personal DB I have from any machine and not just my laptop. I currently have an access DB. Of course I have had this project kicking around since 1999, when I worked at Datastream doing SQL work. Then I was going to make a SQL 7.0 DB. I did, but never used it. This will eventually get done.

It’s been almost a week since my last post. I have been busy, but I don’t think that is an excuse anymore since I am always busy. I am on the train, my most popular spot to write blogs these days. I am doing this blog from my ThinkPad. The reason is I sold my Powerbook yesterday to a friend, nelson. He had been nagging me to buy it for months. I kept pushing him away since I said I would wait until it was a year old and then upgrade. Well I didn’t make it. Not sure what I want to get to replace it yet. I really liked it, but I don’t know if I need 2 laptops. The company one I have (the ThinkPad) I a great machine, it is just not MY Powerbook. I can type faster on the Powerbook. But the ThinkPad has more battery life and a bigger screen. I am conflicted between another upgraded Powerbook or a new 20” imac. I want another Mac, but not sure if the portable is what I need.
Part of doing this blog entry is to see how I like typing on the train using the ThinkPad. My hands do cramp up, but I am still undecided on what to do. Gus and I will goto the Apple store today so I can browse the selection.
It is also important to note that Cell phone number portability is only 4 days away. Monday is the big day. I will go against what experts are saying and attempt to change my number first thing Monday.
I am sitting on the train wanting to write more about what has been happening, but my hands are starting to hurt. lots of typing recently. So I will try later this week to keep up to date.
