I Am A Bad Parent

I don’t have kids, but I am a bad fish parent. I have a confession to make. Last week when Jayson was away in Baton Rouge selling his condo I was really neglectful of our fish. I totally forgot to feed him for an entire day. The crab too, but I feel worse about the fish. He never does anything wrong and I was a bad parent:( I think I made the situation worse when I realized what I did and over feed him. I wanted to compensate for my lack of feeding. In reality I did feed him on both thursday and friday, but forgot to feed him on Friday morning. So he went a full day (thursday night to friday night) without food. Poor little guy. He just swims around and when we walk over to the tank and open the lid he is all ready for feeding time. I let him down.

I got laughed at by someone at work (i think it was brad) for talking to him the other day. Crusty (the fish) needs attention too. So if you have a problem with me talking to fish, get over it.

Jayson and I are both bad fish parents because we said we were going to get Crusty a friend for weeks and we still haven’t. We need to soon. The only problem is that Crusty had 2 fish friends before and they both died. Not sure if he had anything to do with it, or if it was the water temperature. Either way we have our eye on our killer fish, but we still love him anyway.

Get Into The Holiday Mood

I found some crazy stuff online. Check out the Gingerbread laptop. Or the Gingerbread desktop. Both functional and tasty.

Other fun links, but not related to the holidays are Gretchen’s new goofy site. And if you are wondering that is not really G-Dog! G-Dog is not that hot, so she put that picture up there:)

Today was a goofy day. I got tons more of weird funny links that Jayson and Danny found, but I need to figure out where I am going to dinner, so I will get back to this at some other time…

Holiday Party

My companies holiday party is tonight. We are getting ready to go to it in a few minutes. Details to follow (after the hang over is completed)!

In other news Kai is in NYC to visit for the party. We had a good time. No wait, it was work so we did not have any fun what so ever.

Pocket PC Vs. Treo 650

Gus is trying to convince me that I should be looking at the new Pocket PC on sale from Cingular. It is branded the Siemens SX66, but it is basically the same PPC phone that HTC is making for several vendors. Gizmodo had a comparison of Audiovox’s variant of the phone for use on Sprint’s network. I am not impressed. The Treo 650 is smaller and from this review still better than the PPC. I am going to wait. Gus on the other hand may actually go buy that beast and use it. To me it looks too close in size to the HP Pocket PC that AJ got from T-Mobile a few months ago.

Patiently waiting for the Treo 650 for T-Mobile…

UPDATE: Gus got the SX66. He wants me to goto the Cingular store and check it out. I am going to go, but I think I will still wait for the 650.

Do You Want A House?

Do you want to buy a house? Jayson is selling a house in Baton Rouge. It is nice. Lots of space! If you buy it and mention finding out about it via this blog I will get $1,000! I doubt that anyone will follow up on this, but for a grand I will make a post!

I just hope he can sell it so he can have spending money again.

A New USB Flash Drive

I am on the market for a new (bigger and stronger built) USB 2.0 Flash drive. I have a Sandisk 512 meg one now. It is ok, but I ran out of space on it. It also does not feel well built. I like Sandisk as a company and they have many good products, but their low and mid level flash drives are not good. I don’t want to shell out double the going rate for a titanium coated high end drive of theirs that only can hold up to 512 megs. I am looking at the Lexar Jumpdrive Secure. They look secure. They have encrypted volumes that work on both Mac & PC’s. They also support up to 1gig. What is not to like about them? For $100 I will give them a try.

Elevator Etiquette

For some reason Jenn seems to think I pressed all the buttons on Dan’s elevator last Sunday so she would have to wait for the elevator. The story is that when we were leaving Dan’s Sunday she was taking a long time for some reason or another. Since we all (Cari, Jayson, Gretchen, Jenn, & I) were not really traveling together it was ok for us to leave. She didn’t ask us to wait for her, so we left. We heard her as the elevator left Dan’s floor and knew she just missed her. Someone joked that it would be funny if someone hit all the elevator buttons. We all laughed and we think she may have heard us.

We got to the lobby and left normally. I took off Monday, but on Tuesday I hear Jenn claiming that I hit all the buttons. I was surprised since no one hit the buttons. I don’t remember anyone doing it. So either she is making the whole thing up since we were joking about it, or someone must have done it at the last second after we got out. I am thinking she may have just made up the situation. I don’t think we will ever know the truth…

I just want to say if I do play a joke on someone, I will be man enough to say “ha ha, I did that” and then prepare myself for the retaliation that may or may not ensue.

Monday Blues, Well Not Really

Kai was down since it was Monday. I for one was not. Not sure why. It was Monday, I was at work. I have tons of work to do, but the pace today was not so bad. Maybe it was because I got some minor issues out of the way? Maybe it was that Jayson and I didn’t get pestered with dumb questions all day (it happens more than you think)? Maybe it was because my new boss Bob was off, well not really since bob doesn’t drop by that much:).

It was probably a combination of those things. Danny thought I was drinking or had taken a migraine pill when I said I was in a good mood. All I have to say to that is I am not always pessimistic. I am just a realist!

Tomorrow I was going to goto Kingston, but I have too much going on in NYC so I will put off the trip for a week. Kai can handle the meeting I was going up for by himself.

Hopefully we are close to picking a new support person for our Kingston office. I had someone I knew and liked for the job, but it just wasn’t in the cards for him right now. We are looking at several decent candidates from within our Call Center who have some experience but need the chance to take the leap into IT. More news on that after I can finalize details and be able to talk about it.

Sunday Movies

Today I met up with Jayson and Gretchen and we hung out. We went to Soho so Gretchen could hit a shop. I hit the Apple store, and got a skin for my iPod. Blue colored if you are wondering. We then ate dinner at the California Pizza Kitchen while we were killing time before the movies. We went to see Ocean’s 12. It was good, but I think the first one was better. It was good entertainment though. It was cool in NY today so I had on the Pea Coat and the nice warm neoprene police gloves.

Before the movies I had some time to work on my TV / computer setup. I got my All In Wonder card to properly pump video to my TV. In order for it to look right I have to turn down the resolution to 800×600. When I do I can watch recorded shows from my computer onto the TV. With the ATI Remote Wonder I can also change the channels and fast forward, etc without going to my computer.

Hung Out, Watched Elf Saturday

Saturday I slept in. I wasn’t out too late on Friday, but I was tired from the week of work. I cleaned up my place and Rich came over to hang out. We haven’t hung out in a few months. Both of us have been busy, and he has been trying to conserve cash. We rented Elf on DVD. Neither of us had seen it, and everyone at work said it was great. I thought it was funny, but not outrageously so.

We walked down to Sassy Sliders for a quick dinner. It was a cool long walk, but we were on a budget. That place is like a wannabe White Castle, but the food is really good for fast food.

The plus side of having company over was that it forced me to clean up the crap in my apartment. It now looks halfway decent. I had a good day. I need to hang with Rich and Amanda more. I miss them:(
