Passover 2015

Friday Teagan went with my mom to my sisters house for the first night of Passover.  it was an experience for Teagan since she loves the train and she got to take two of them with her grammy.  It was also an expense since she spent the night at my sisters without us or her sister.  From all accounts she had a blast even if she didn’t have a nap.

Friday night and Saturday was interesting for MC and I since we got to act like people who only have one kid.  Amelia got a lot of extra attention.  Saturday Amelia and I went for a nice long walk and then played in the park.  After her nap we drove to my brother in law’s sisters house for the 2nd night of Passover.  We were reunited with Teagan, my sister and her family and my parents along with a bunch of other family for dinner.  It was nice to spend time with the family and let the kids play with the cousins.

Amelia fell asleep pretty quick in the car not he way home.  I would like to say the same for Teagan but all I can say is she fell asleep eventually on the car ride home.

Thanksgiving

We survived our trip to my sisters for Thanksgiving.  I say that because we are still not sure how Teagan will handle car rides.  She was up and fine on the way out Thursday and slept a bit at nap time on the way back today.  We had one scare when she coughed a bit that we thought she would be sick but she was fine.

The visit overall was great.  My nieces and nephew love playing with Teagan and Amelia and by all accounts the feeling is mutual.  Teagan loved playing with Zach and Lexi.  Amelia had a blast.  The positive was that both kids were so worn out by the time they went to bed they both went down right away and stayed sleeping most of the night.  We have had challenges when traveling so wearing them out worked.

We had some minor car excitement when I realized the battery died on the car because we left the lights on.  Michael jumped us in the middle of the night just to be sure we were good.  We were fine after that.

Thanksgiving dinner was great.  Carrie always does great holidays.  It was also good to spend time with my dad.  My mom is away on a trip of a lifetime in Africa so she was missed but we hope she is having a fantastic time.

Good Friday

Today is Good Friday, and also the first night of Passover. MC and I went to Michael’s dads for the Seder. My parents thankfully gave us a lift in their car so we did not have to take the subway.

Today was special because it was the first time we had told anyone other than our parents and one or two friends that MC was pregnant. The amnio results were in and we felt confident in finally being able to tell people. MC did not want to make a scene but as I warned her my sister no matter how you tell her she would react very loudly to the news. Carrie did not disappoint. Neither did Lauren. It was definitely a happy occasion. I think everyone was happy except for Zachary. He was disappointed to hear that we were having a baby girl. He was hoping for a little boy cousin to play with, possibly boss around a little bit. We had to disappoint him.

Overall the Cedar was good. Obviously the most memorable part of it was us giving the news about the baby, so it’s kind of hard to remember anything else memorable that happened.

The Day Off

I have today off for Martin Luther King day! In the past I have worked at companies that didn’t give this as a day off so I am happy to have an extra day to relax. This is especially good since next Saturday I have to be at work in New Jersey for probably 18+ hours for some disaster recovery drills. Not fun but it doesn’t happen that often so it should hopefully go ok.

I am not sure what I am going to do today. I hopefully with think of something!

The Holiday’s, Well Sort Of

Tonight I went to my parents for the first night of Passover. It is a holiday to me in the sense that I get together with my family and that it is a Jewish holiday. I of course don’t celebrate it in the traditional way (aka I don’t at all). It is good to see everyone though. Lots of little kids running around now a days. Morgan, Zack, and the twins are so funny. Evan is very cute just staring at everyone but she (yes it is a girls name too I am told) is too young to do much.

I didn’t eat very much. I never really do at these get togethers. The food is not the usual stuff I would eat. I was really tired so I was glad that I got a rid from Andrew back to my place. It is nice having quasi family live nearby, especially if they have cars!

Overall a good night, even though I at the time when I was tired it didn’t feel that way. Of course any night when I can get a hello and goodbye hug and kiss from Morgan is a good night! I will say it again, she is way too smart for her own good.

As for work, it was the normal fare today. I had a bunch of meetings. Then uncovered stuff that should have been setup better than it was, and a few minor issues crept up. Because of the holiday I didn’t stay to take part in a test that was planned. I hope it goes well since if it does we can prove to others what we have been saying for a while that VMware should be used more in our environment. I will see how it went when I get to work tomorrow.
