Monday Again?

And I blink and it is Monday again. I didn't worry since I took a deep breath and the day was over, just like that. I had meetings scheduled for almost the entire day (again). Thankfully some stuff got cut short (slightly) and I was able to pass off one meeting so I didn't have to go. That gave me time to get a small portion of the work I have done today. At least the most pressing stuff was done, right?

I used my new Targus rolling laptop bag for the 2nd time today, first time to my office. I miss my nice Tumi messenger bag, but with the amount of stuff I am lugging to work now a days it has been suggested by medical pro's not to carry that much so I am trying out the wheeled option. I have mixed thoughts on it, so I am not sure if the messenger bag will collect too much dust. I will try the roller out for a few more weeks before I pass judgement.

For dinner tonight I bought some Maco Shark to grill up on the George Forman. The verdict, I will pass on it in the future. It didn't settle well in my stomach and the Swordfish I have been having has tasted allot better to me. I am going to try to steam up some king crab legs as my first attempt at steaming sometime later in the week. I am liking the sea food recently. I know crab legs are expensive but they are cheaper to make on my own than goto a restaurant!

Nothing else major happening today. I am trying to do a bit of online shopping while finishing up some stuff for work and then off to bed.

Long Day And Then Out With Friends

Today I worked from an office I don’t normally work out of. I had several meetings up there, as well as lunch plans so it made sense to be nomadic somewhere other than my normal office. A day that started out only having a handful of meetings turned into a completely packed day filled with stuff going on an minor issues cropping up all over the place. I was barely able to get out after 5, and was only able to do that because I was riddling off emails on the blackberry on the train.

After work I headed down to hang out with Mike, Stanley, Ben and others for a few rounds before heading home to relax after a long week.

Scotch And Appetizers

Today I headed over to Pound & Pence Pub to meet up with my friend Kristen. I hadn’t seen Kristen in over a year and it was good to get together and catch up. We relaxed out of the freezing cold over an assortment of Scotch’s and some appitizers. It was a fun night. It wasn’t a very late night since we both had work the next day. I need to make more of an effort to stay in contact with friends.

On the work front things were busy today, and looks to be hectic the rest of the week.

The Long Lingering Vacation is Over

For me most of the month of December was nice short 3 day weeks. Unfortnatly the last one of those is over in a few hours. Tomorrow starts the normal grind of a 5 day work week. I am winding down the week and getting ready for the week, but I am a little sad that the holiday is over.

Thankfully I felt OK today. I went to bed early last night since I started getting a migraine and then was forced to lie down. That is never fun, but thankfully sleeping it off helped. That left me today feeling normal.

On my last day off I spent most of the day cleaning up the clutter around my apartment. It is amazing how after only 2 or 3 days the place can become really messy. I also continued (hopefully concluded) my early spring cleaning. I got rid of two large garbage bags of stuff so hopefully things will remain neat and tidy. I did the laundry, and got a bunch of online shopping done to bang through my task list. Now all I need to do is start banging through my work tasks tomorrow in between 6 and a half hours of meetings.

On the plus side the last few nights have been decent night sleeps. That is a change for me so I was happy. Lets hope tonight is good as well. Sunday nights tend not to be. I am helping the sleep along with a little Johnny Walker Blue over some ice as I sit here and write. Hopefully my writing tonight is as smooth as this drink!

Cooking Accessories

I spent the afternoon today shopping. I first headed over to macys to look for some stuff. I wasn’t able to find everything I was looking for but was able to pick up a few things. I then headed over to Bed Bath & Beyond to search for cooking gear. I have been looking online for a while, getting advise from friends (thanks Sean & Brian), and speaking to my dad. I ended up buying a few key items. It was an expensive day, but I finally broke down and got what I needed. As much as I can grill lots of stuff on my George Forman, I needed other things as well. I ended up calling my dad while I was at the store and he walked me through most of what I needed just to be sure I didn’t mess anything up.

With the 7 train not working due to construction I ended up taking a cab home. Overall an eventful and expensive day.

Out With Friends

I was in the office yesterday (in contrast from working from home Monday and today). My team based in the NY area has usually been meeting in NYC on Tuesdays. Since so many of them are on vacation we didn’t meet up. That freed my schedule up a bit while I was in the office to get some other stuff done that has been piling up. That made yesterday very productive for me.

After work I meet up with some friends near Penn Station. We hung out for a while. It was good so see some people I haven’t hung with in a while, or just not enough in general. It was also fun to get together with people I see all the time, because hey I see them all the time because we have fun hanging out together!

Since I was working today I didn’t stay out too late. I am tentatively scheduled to meet up with some people (I think Luke, and Ben and maybe some others) tonight for New Years Eve. I just don’t feel so hot, and it is freezing out. I will see if I actually go out or not. I am hit or miss on New Years. I either do something really cool, or sit at home and do nothing. I don’t mind doing nothing sometimes. It is really crowded and expensive to get out in the city on New Years. It is also very difficult to get around. I am not trying to be a stick in the mud. I just don’t feel motivated on some New Years Eve’s, this being one of them.

Saturday

Yesterday after my attempt at shopping I ended up going home and cooking dinner. I didn’t plan on going back out but Luke called and I wasn’t so tired so I meet up with him and Ben for a few drinks. I didn’t get home until around 2AM. It was a fun night. Herbie also ended up showing up while we were out.

Today I went out to get my watch fixed. That will be a post unto itself, but I didn’t expect it to take so long to do. The city was packed. I ended up back home just in time to make plans to meet up with Danny for some dinner at Swift. I didn’t drink that much even though Danny was up for it. Dinner was fun, but I ended up home early.

Overall a good and productive day.

Xmas Recap

Xmas ended up being a load of fun. Wednesday night I went with Jayson & Gretchen to Outback. We didn’t do anything crazy, just dinner and hung out at their place afterward. On Xmas day they had about 15 people over. It was a mix of family and friends. The food was great, well too good since I stuffed my self on appetizers and never did get around to eating the main corse. I have done that before. What can i say, I like appetizers.

I ended up staying over at Jay’s until Friday morning. I took a morning train back to the city. I ended up trying to do some shopping in the afternoon but that was a disaster. I always forget that the day after Xmas is a huge shopping day. I wanted to get some stuff at Macy’s but when I got there it was packed.
