Jacket Firmware Upgrade

I never thought I would talk about the fact that today I updated the firmware on my jacket. Yes you read that correctly I said my jacket had a firmware upgrade. That statement and the specific jacket in particular provides my wife endless amusement in making fun of me for having it.

Years ago I found Ministry of Supply as a kickstarter for some socks. After supporting them I started looking into the company. I noticed they had dress shirts and trowsers as well as socks. The history behind the company sounded interesting and what they offered seemed perfect for me. I bought a shirt and have been buying their stuff ever since.

In 2018 when they announced a kickstarter for a smart jacket I was intrigued. The discount on backing the project was pretty good as well. I ended up supporting the project. I got the jacket last winter. I really like it. I haven’t needed it this season yet until today. Since the girls were at a birthday party I had some time so I finally followed their instructions to update the firmware on the jacket.

What makes this jacket “smart” is it has a heating element throughout the jacket. It pairs with your phone and adjusts the temperature of the jacket depending on your temperature and activity. Initially the smart part of the jacket did not really work. It would simply heat you based on manual adjusting the app. That in and of itself is pretty cool and worked on cold commute days. This firmware upgrade should fix some connectivity problems and allow for true automatic “smart” heating.

An auto adjusting heated jacket is not really a necessity. It is pretty cool. The jacket itself is actually pretty nice. I would like to even get one without the heating stuff in it so I can travel with it. Overall a great buy for me. The firmware upgrade even went off without a hitch. Even if it was probably more complex than most people would have wanted to deal with.

The Purple Coat

Teagan has been favoring anything purple in recent months.  She doesn’t know what a favorate is but it is clear that purple is her favorate.  Most of our family knows this so when we needed a very cold weather coat for the girls my mom decided we needed to purple up her wardrobe.  She went out and got both girls purple coats.  I beleive she consulted with MC prior to getting them.  We now have two very purple coats.  Amelia’s wont fit her till next season but next year we will have matching girls.  For now it is very cute to hear Teagan “purple coat”, “purple coat”.  What is funny is sometimes it is a statement and other times its a question.

MC also just got purple socks.  That is a big request in our house and Teagan had only has one pair.  Now she has more.

What’s Next, Ties?

I can’t believe it myself, so I have to write it down. I actually bought dress shirts. Well dressy for me. I normally wear Polo’s to work, or as Scott (my friend Scott not me) calls it the IT uniform. My new job doesn’t care if I wear polo’s to work or not. It is within the dress code, but for some reason I took it upon myself to just go out and get some nicer shirts. I got one at Macy’s over the weekend and it didn’t suck wearing it all day earlier this week so I went back and got some more. Jayson showed me the really decent wrinkle free ones that are nice and soft. WIthout a tie it isn’t so uncomfortable to wear at least in the cold weather. I guess I might be growing up? It is still early to tell!

Wrinkle free

The wrinkle free dress paints actually live up to their name. Or they do after 1 wash. I followed the directions on how to wash them (a first for me) and they came out perfect. I will see if they survive the 30 washes they claim they will. So far I am a huge fan of the Dockers Pro Style paints. Thanks for the heads up on them Jayson.

I think it is time to get rid of some of my aging (not so gracefully) Khakis.
