Dinner With The Family

Yesterday I meet up with Jayson, John, Dave, Danny and others for lunch and drinks for John’s birthday. We went to the house of brews. It was fun, but I only stayed for less than 2 hours. From what I heard there was drinking for several hours after I left. Thankfully I only had one Jack and Coke.

I couldn’t stay later since I had to meet up with my Mom, Sister, Niece and Newphew in Time Square. They went to a show. I went with them back to my parents place. Zach enjoyed a subway performer on the way to the train. He is so funny. We hung out at my parents place in the afternoon. I tinkered a little on my dad’s computer to fix a few minor issues. I typically do that when I am over. I didn’t do much of anything else since I started getting a migraine. My dad gave me some pain meds. It helped for a while, but I will get to that in a minute. We cooked dinner at in. The leftover steak we had was good, but the fresh stuff my mom picked up wasn’t so hot, but it was nice to get to see my family twice in a week.

After my sister put the kids to bed we hung out and talked for a while. In retrospect I should have gone home earlier. The medication started wearing off before I got a ride home. My mom and sister drove me back to my place. I kinda had a migraine melt down in the car on the way home. Thankfully the trip home was uneventful and I went right to bed. I had a horrible night. I stomach and head hurt all night. Because of that I stayed in today and just tried to relax and rest a bit.

Passover

Went to my brother in laws dad’s apartment for the first night of Passover today. It was crazy with all the kids (5 of them under 7), but it is also what makes things interesting. Dinner was ok, but I am never into Jewish holiday food. Desert was really good though. I had fun with Morgan, Zachary, and Lauren’s kids. I went to dinner straight from work. It was right on the way so that was good.

I even got a ride home from my mom and dad. Totally didn’t think that would happen but since I was on their way home I guess it made sense.

Single Again

Other semi notable events that happened this weekend is that I am single again. It happened after the trip to the country on Saturday. It wasn’t planned on my part but after looking back on recent events I guess I knew it wasn’t working out for the past two weeks. I enjoyed my time with Beata but in the end if it isn’t working you have to be honest with someone. That is all I will really discuss on the subject. It is now time to brush off my online profile!

Trip to the Country

Spent the day yesterday at Jayson & Gretchen’s. It rained a bit. The train ride was long but we had a good time. We grabbed lunch at a pub by the train station. Scott ended up stopping by for a quick lunch with us. Dave showed up for a while to hang out also. We watched a movie. It was an overall relaxing day (minus the train ride).

Beata and I headed back to the city and grabbed a late dinner at TGI Fridays. That was when things got interesting, but I wont go into details.

St. Patricks Day

Yesterday for St. Patrick’s day I headed over to Blaggards. Where else would I spend an Irish holiday but the irish bar I typically goto. I don’t know how I did it, but I convinced Jayson to stay out, and actually get Gretchen to come into the city for the night. They meet up at Blaggards along with John who stayed for a round or two. Ben, Luke, Stanley, Danny, Beata and others showed up also. It was a fun night of hanging out, drinking, and eating. I didn’t stay out too late, but I didn’t get home till after 10. It was a long day but enjoyable day.

My Birthday

Today was my birthday! I worked from home most of the morning. Then I meet up with Jayson, John, Danny, and Eric for lunch at Angelo Maxies. Steak birthday lunch was really good. I then headed to the office for a meeting in the afternoon. Then it was home to meet up with my parents and Beata for birthday dinner. Dinner was good. I had king crab legs! The perfect birthday food.

After dinner my mom gave me my gift. I knew what it was but it was still cool to see. A few years ago my sister bought me a sheet of $2 bills for a birthday gift. I wanted it since i thought it would be really cool. I hadn’t done anything with it for ages and mentioned to my my mom I wanted to get them framed. She got them framed (and had a much better job done than I would have paid for) and broght the finished product. It was really cool since I had it framed in a way that you can hang it with the front or back facing people. It looks awsome. I need to get a special hook to handle the weight of the frame and find a place to put it!

Grand Torino

Beata and I went to see Grand Torino on Monday. I read good things about the movie. It didn’t disappoint. It turned out to be a great drama. It also turned out to be pretty funny. That was unexpected. Well I should say it was unexpected by me. Beata said she read it was funny. I didn’t believe her. They were able to make a dark drama actually be a bit funny. I liked it.

Afterward we went to Dukes for some dinner. I haven’t been there in a while so it was good to go back there.

I am not sure why my friend Brian thought that I remind him of the Eastwood character. BG, I never beat someone down with a hand gun, and I don’t think I am that jaded:) Now my will might be as colorful as the one in the movie, but that is where I draw the line!

So Far, A Lazy Weekend

Today was a total lazy day. I got up around noon after only going to bed at around 11:30 last night. I didn’t do that many productive things today and I am very happy about it. I did clean my apartment a bit, scanned and shredded some documents, and ordered a printer. Other than that I was pretty lazy.

I don’t mind being lazy since I was so busy during the week. I had plans Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday this week. I almost had plans Friday but I was so tired I decided not to go out. I like going back and forth between really busy and lots of lull time to relax. I know by Monday I will be a bit bored but for now I am living it up. For me this is a 4 day weekend. I took off yesterday, and I have Monday off as a holiday. With the 7 train not running tomorrow I will probably have a lazy day then too. I don’t have anything so pressing that I want to deal with shuttle bus’s and lots of waiting tomorrow.

OK, now off to bed!

Day Off, Not Really

Today I took the day off. The problem is that I might not have worked, but I didn’t really get a day off out of this. I got up earlier than I normally do for work so I could be at my accountant by 8:15AM. He worked his typical magic and I got back more this year than last year. I attribute that to more $ I put into the 401k, but whatever the reason I am happy I got more back. I wasn’t so happy that he didn’t see me personally. This guy is so busy he has assistants (lackies). Due to a scheduling snafu I didn’t see him but someone else. Typically I see the main guy but since my return went up I didn’t make a big deal about it. The fee went up again this year but when you are getting like 15 times the fee in a return you don’t really complain.

After the tax’s were done I grabbed a capachinno at Starbucks and then headed home for a few hours. I then had to head out to two doctors appointments. I had some checkups I needed to goto as follow up to my incident in October. Apparently they figured out (or think they did) what caused everything that happened in October. If I do what they tell me, I should be fine, yay!

Unfortunately two doctor appointments took up the entire afternoon, so I just ended up going home to crash instead of heading out to Blaggards to meet up with some friends.

Coctails and Steaks

Today was a hectic day at work. I was in the office and my NY (NJ) team was also in. That means even more meetings than normal. Well, not really since every day this week was 100% filled with some meeting or another. After work there was a meet and greet at one of the other offices downtown. I walked over with some of the people from my office. It was a nice get together. I got to meet a few people I never have actually meet, but have spoken to on the phone dozens of time. That is always nice.

I had to cut out of the meet and greet slightly early to head uptown. I meet Beata and two of her friends for dinner at the Kobe Lounge. They had a restaurant week price fix going on. I never have done the restaurant week thing. I am not a fan of the limited menu’s of the price fix. This was good since if there wasn’t a price fix there is a good chance wouldn’t have ever gone to eat there. The food was fantastic but I don’t see the value of spending a ridiculous amount of money for a few ounces of special beef. My typical thinking is as long as i can still find a good steak for under $50 I am happy. What can I say I have simple food tastes! Overall I had a blast. I think I got along well with Beata’s friends and like I said the food was really good.

I took tomorrow off, but I still have to get up early to goto my accountant so I am now off to bed.
