I still find the weather a bit odd in London. I love it, this isn’t a complaint. It is just different. Today it feels like a lovely fall day. The only thing is its late June. This isn’t an anomaly. There were many days last July that i was in a light hooded sweatshirt in the middle of the day and i had to stop and think to myself wait it’s July.

The Story of Grogu Unlocking Downstairs
Since we got Grogu we have been limiting his access to most of the house. That was the recommendation of many resources on the Internet about introducing a cat to your house. Also we haven’t really gotten the house into a state where every room was clean enough that we don’t have to worry that he would eat something that he shouldn’t.
Geogu started off in just the office. Then we opened him up to the stairs and the hallway on the first floor and then the first floor toilet.
We cleaned A’s Room so he could go in there next. Afterwards A commented that Grogu had unlocked her room. Unlocked in the video game sense. She said that before I could make the similar comment about him levelling up.
While we were cleaning downstairs so he could come down and get into the kitchen and family room she had referenced it again that Grogu was unlocking the kitchen. She beat me to my comment about levelling up again. She is of course my child. 🙂
Grogu was quite enjoying the new larger area of his domain. It is his domain now.
This is How I Work Now a Days
While we get Grogu accustomed to his new surroundings we have been restricting him to the guest room where my office is at in the hallway on our first floor of the house. That means at least for now I have a little friend hanging out with me pretty much the entire workday.
That means there is a new variable or two in my work schedule. How do I leave to go drop the girls off at school we are generally giving him breakfast. For at least three days this week when I got back to my desk and started working Kroger would climb up my leg and sit on my shoulder or neck. On Tuesday he did this for a good 45 minutes to an hour. I had to use my iPad because I was hunched over and didn’t want to disturb him. Other days he has just hung out upon my shoulder for 10 or 15 minutes.
Next up in Grogu’s schedule is two sit on my lap. Again he varies from a few minutes to over an hour doing that. Onto occasions I have photos of him falling asleep.
Then he will play with a toy or two. From there he will go lie around in his little cat cave we have now in the Guest Room.
Next is lunch for him and I. After that it’s pretty much a repeat of the morning for him.
Say hi to Grogu
This Saturday we got a kitten. He is a Devon Rex we named Grogu. If you are wondering why we named him Grogu then you either have not seen The Mandalorian or you have and did not see the picture of our Grogu.
Grogu has been a long time in planning. M has been a cat person for years before i meet her. When we meet she had a cat. It was her 2nd.
For at least a year or two the girls have wanted a cat. Originally i was the hold out. Finally I broke down and agreed to get one. My concerns were the hair and the fact that my mom is allergic to cats. We settled on a Devon Rex since they did not have much hair and some people reported less or no allergic reaction to this breed of cat. I know that is a point of contention but worth it especially since in general this cat breed seemed really cool.
In late March or early April M found a breeder in Manchester who had a litter to pick from. We selected our little guy and knew we wouldn’t get him till June. That fit our timeline.
Saturday M took the train to Manchester to pick our kitten while i was with the girls.
The girls were super excited for their new friend. He has spent a lot of time under the guest room bed and in his cat cave we got him. He will periodically play with someone and then go hide again. We read he needs time to adjust.
Today he was venturing out more and lied in the sun under our sky light on our stairs as well as by the window in the guest room for a while. He is pictured in an amazon box the girls put a blanket in and are using for him to rest in. Apparently Grogu loves it.
I write this post while he is curled up half in my lap half nestled in a pillow relaxing.
Security Comes First
My mum visted for April term break. She took the girls for a few days to a hotel. One day she took the girls to the postal museum. We went to the same museum with her when she visited a few years ago. It was nice and the underground tunnels and train ride was fun. When my mum needed an activity for a day she thought to go back there.
One of the activities is to create a stamp with your face on it. Both girls created ones.. The museum makes it easy for you to send your work of art to yourself by emailing them. My mum did just that to my personal email address. She really doesn’t know any other one.
The moment I got the mail and realised what it was I didn’t think oh cute. I thought oh great who knows who now has my email since it was sent via an unsecured system on a public kiosk. To be fair the stamps were cute however that wasn’t my first thought.
Milk & Cookies
Forget the indoor and outdoor pools or any other amenity. If you offer complimentary milk and cookies for the kids you are aces in my kids book.
The frisbee, baseball hat and other goodies in a Junors club bag also was great but come on milk and cookies for turn down service.
