Vacation is over:(

As I said in the last blog, the vacation is over. I am home now and I just uploaded all the blog entries from this week. I actually wrote all of them on the plane. that is why some are so short. I didn’t take any time during the week to write. It was great!!! I proved I can go computer free for a bit.

At first I was going to post date all the blog posts to their corresponding days they represent, but I decided against it. I am just going to leave them. I uploaded them in order.

Turns out the airport (JFK) actually sucked tonight. We sat on the tarmac for almost an hour because our gate was not empty. We were early and then the flight before us was late. Then I got stuck on a huge line at immigration. I was the first person from my plane to the line (thanks for being in biz class and only having a book bag to carry on) but we got behind a flight from the UK. Baggage claim took the usually amount of time, forever. After that I breezed through customs, or was immigration first then custom’s, who knows. All I remember is they check the passport twice, but stamp it once. I got a cab quick. that is no small feat at JFK at night.

It is 2am sunday and I am not tired at all. I was tired all vacation due to the heat and now that I am home and in a comfy temperature I don’t want to sleep. I hope I can get onto a normal sleep schedule for work on monday.

Speaking of work I got 187 emails and 6 voice mail’s while I was away. At least everyone but a few moron’s listened to my voice mail message and called someone else while I was out. BTW, 3 of those messages were from the same sales guy. People have to listen. As far as email, that is not allot, so I am not upset. Most of them were automated alerts that I get. Turns out the office had some problems while I was away. Keith gave me a quick run down a few hours ago. I will get more of an update tomorrow or monday from Gus & Mark.

Vacation, Day 6 Continued…

So as I said before I didn’t do any work this whole vacation. I barely used the computer except for importing pictures off my digital camera and showing them to my family. What is weird as I sit here typing for the first time in almost a week, my hands still start hurting after a little while. I am beginning to think that my problem is how I sleep and not too much typing. I sleep with my arm under my head, and it can be a weird position. I am going to talk to my doctor about what I could do.

As I thought I brought a bunch of movies and only saw 1 on the flight down (mission impossible), and part of black hawk down last night. I need to finish watching that, but I will wait till I get home to do it.

Vacation, Day 6 Saturday

Vacation is over for me. My family is staying till monday but I am off. It was a great restful vacation. I didn’t do a lick of work. I am glad I got the chance to rest. I had to leave early (1pm) for the airport so I didn’t get any pool time today. The airport trip and check in was uneventful. That is always good. They changed the plane so my seat got changed. I asked for another change since I got put in the back, and I didn’t like that. I asked for something closer to the front of the plane. The next thing I know I am in business class. I guess this plane had more biz class seats than the last one and they didn’t know what to do with some extra passengers. Whatever, I got bumped up. I wasn’t one to complain. I got worried when the flight attendant asked if I was originally a biz class ticket and I answered no. Turns out that because of the confusion they thought that I paid for biz class and were going to put me in first class. I think I looked respectable or something. I don’t know why she asked me and not the other people sitting around me. Well I have an idea, but I won’t write about it. I try to dress biz casual when I travel, so I can look decent and vie for an upgrade. it worked today. if it wasn’t for my big mouth telling the truth I might have had a double upgrade. I am a snob because Delta Biz elite is much nicer than American’s Biz class. Oh well. I write this while I am in the air on the way home. Just watched the in flight movie “two weeks notice”. it was ok. The steak for dinner was good though. the jack Daniel’s and coke I had was better!

I hope customs and cab hunting at JFK is ok. Then this would have been a good day. I got “randomly” screened before I got on the plane. I never understand those. They make me take my shoes off, and inspect my PDA, but don’t even look at my laptop, belt or wallet. My wallet even set off the metal detector and they didn’t look at it. I am not complaining, I just don’t understand security. I think it is just a show to make people think they are safe. I guess it is good if it calms the mass’s. I guess what they say is true “ignorance is bliss”.

Vacation Day 5, Friday

I did nothing today. And I mean nothing. I loved every minute of it. My family went to a cave tour. Mike went for a round of golf on the expensive course. I just lied by the pool. It rocked. I got some reading in. I don’t read novels that much anymore. I was happy to get a book in. Turns out my mom freaked out about my dad’s driving while on the cave trip. My dad’s driving plus the british style driving and the getting lost I guess drove her crazy. I am glad I decided to just stay by the pool. I got a bit of color, but not much. I don’t like to burn.

We had dinner at the house. I had steaks. they were good. This is what vacation is about, going somewhere you have never been to just kick back and do anything you want, or nothing!!!

Vacation Day 4, Thursday

Some light shopping, mainly for food and stupid stuff. We went to the beach today. it was like a 5 minute drive from the house. The house we rented had privileges at the sandy lane hotel. The hotel was awesome, and we had a cabana at the beach. The water was so nice. We hung out for a while. My dad sat in the shade with morgan while she slept. My sister, mom, and I went into the ocean, actually Caribbean see if we want to be specific.

We went out for dinner for my dad’s birthday. he turned 60 today. The restaurant was awesome. it sat right on the beach and it got clear and you could see out onto the horizon. The food was decent, nothing awesome, but I had a good time.

I thought I was getting another Migraine today before dinner, so I took another bextra. Not sure if I was being a baby about the head aches or if I was actually getting one. The heat does nasty things to my head.

Vacation Day 3, Wednesday

Today Mike and I went and played a round of golf. I have never played and he didn’t want to go by himself. I thought it would be fun so I went. The course was empty since we went late in the day. We had to travel half way across the island for this course. The course turned out to have sucked (according to mike). We had a bad golf card so we had to go get help between the 10th & 11th greens. Mike was pissed that we didnt get anything for free out of that. I had a good time. It was my first golf outing and I did ok. I cant drive for my life but once on the fareway I did a little worse than ok. I probibly will try it again sometime. This course was expencive. It was cheap compaired to the course by the house we rented, but it was still $100 a round. With clubs the one by our house was like $160 and that was a special deal. Golf in barbados is not for the cheap!

My only problem with golf is that I can’t see the green’s from most tee’s and I also have trouble finding the ball. Thanks mike was my lookout.

Unfortunatly I was fighting a head ache the whole game. Thankfully the meds worked for the game, but I started crashing on the ride home. I made it to the house just in time to lie down and sleep from like 7pm to the next morning. I ended up taking 2 Bextra throughout the day. At least this migrane didn’t stop me from having a good day of golf.

Vacation Day 2, Tuesday

The house is awsome. My sister out did herself on this vacation. I don’t know if she did this by luck or if she planned it, but we are in a huge house facing the ocean. it sits on a golf course in (supposedly) most exclusive part of Barbados. We even have our own maid and cook. The food is awsome too. We lounged around today. It was hot, go figure! We lied by the pool and just played it lazy. I like doing that on vacation, doing nothing.

Vacation day 1, Continued…

The airport experience was ok. No problems. The van took us to the house with no problems.

Mike and I took our cook and made (only get them on vacation, we don’t get to bring them home) to their bus after dinner. We ended up at some dive barish type place that had slots and video poker. Since mike wanted to gamble I fronted him $20. that is $40 barbadian dollars. I took 20 and went to the video poker machine. I was loosing nicely when mike and I switched machines, he took poker and I took the slots. I my first pull I put like 5 quarters in and won. I got like $50 barbadian or $25 US. As I always learned from my dad I proceeded to stop betting after the big win. All in all it was a good day.

Vacation, Day 1 Monday

So far so good. The ussual excitement, but everything is ok so far. We got to the airport and got through security without a major problem. You move very slow when you have a baby. Also some of the people I am traveling with are not the fastest people (dad, mom, & carrie). The excitement for the day so far is that my dad forgot his insulin for the trip. How a diabetic forgets that I will not know. He will get some when we get there, or that is the plan.

I am writting this from the plane. Lunch was actually not bad. I had some chicken. I just watched Mission Impossible on DVD, and have about 30% battery life left on the laptop so I decided to get some blogging in.

The weather report says it will probibly rain at least part of the day every day I am on vacation. I am not worried yet since islands like barbados ussually rain for a bit and then are nice out. I will have to see when I get there.

Morgan has been very good so far. She slept for most of the trip. I just got a screaming baby sitting a few rows in front of me. Hopefully they quiet down soon. The plane is pretty empty. We got switched from a 757 to 767 a few weeks ago. Had some issues with seats because of the change. Everything worked out though. Since we moved to the bigger plane it is pretty empty. I am in front so I still have someone sitting next to me. It is not bad. I have had worse trips. I hope that does not jinx me! I will let you know how it turns out later.
