Family Photo Shoot

Today I took the day off because we had an appointment for a photo shoot with the girls. We found a fantastic photographer (Amanda Saldarelli Photography) last year that we used for Teagan’s first year photos. We booked her again this year for a smaller session for photos we are going to use for our holiday photos. We went to the grounds of a museum near Great Neck. I didn’t even know that place existed but it was very nice backdrop for our photos. Thankfully Teagan survived the car drip without getting sick. The past month or so we have completed several trips without having to give her any medication so we have our fingers crossed that she is over her car sickness phase. As recently as our Maine trip in August she had trouble so we very happy she is doing well traveling.

Both girls were awake and in a good mood for the session. With two kids that young you have to be grateful for that. Besides Teagan running around a lot the session went well. We are hoping we got some really good photos.

Besides the photo session the day was generally uneventful day at home playing with the kids. It was nice to have a 3 day weekend.

A Mystery of Childhood I Won’t Solve

Around Teagan’s first birthday my parents got her this easy chair with her name on it.  She also has a play kitchen set with utensils and wood food, etc that she loves and plays with all the time.  She has had the kitchen for over a year.  For at least a few months Teagan has been taking her play kitchen utensils and placing them on her lounge chair.  Today MC mentioned it, but we both know she has been doing it for a while.  MC doesn’t think she ever puts the fake forks and knives on the chair, just the ladle, spatula, etc.  I am not sure about that, but i do know she never puts other stuff like the food or pots on the chair.  It is not an every day occurrence but she has done this several times.  The chair is not even near the kitchen.  I would love to know why she is doing it but she can’t communicate well enough yet.  MC and I just have to scratch our heads and smile at this one!

Flying Solo With The Girls

Today our babysitter was sick.  MC had a deadline at work so I took off.  I was already going to work from home because I was taking Teagan to her 2 year checkup but I wasn’t planning on getting no work done.  I have taken care of both kids alone before but it is always a challenge.

Today thankfully Teagan had a class in the morning.  I also had a class with Amelia but she was napping in the stroller so I made the command decision for us not to go.  Instead i got a civilized walk in with her sleeping.  The highlight was my Starbucks Cappuccino.  I miss my walks when Teagan was a baby were I could go for coffee.  With both kids it is a challenge so i was grateful for the chance today.

After Teagan’s doctor appointment and attempted nap time I got in some really good play time with them. That was followed by the challenging yet not as bad as it could have been bathing Amelia, feeding Teagan, then bathing Teagan juggling act.

All day I was craving Sushi, so i ordered delivery for when MC got home.  We hadn’t had in a while and it was delicious.  I was tired but it was a generally great day with my girls!

Rain Day at Home

Its a rainy day at home today. MC tried to take Teagan out to the park but it was all wet and Teagan went back to the stroller and wanted to get back in it. I on the other hand did laundry. Laundry went from an annoyance (I haven’t liked doing it since i was a kid) to a workout chasing Teagan around. She was generally good but had a good time exploring the basement and the laundry room.

Soccer Time

Today was T’s first day of Soccer class.  M signed her up and I got to take her to it this week.  It is a good time first thing in the morning Saturday.  We used to goto open gym at Gymboree but since we stopped going to Gymobree to try new classes out we haven’t had an early morning activity.

We can say T had fun.  She did.  She ran around and had a blast.  She really didn’t get that into the activities.  M said she was like that the first time she went to music class a few weeks ago but after a class or two she got used to it and was a better participant.  Let’s face it though, if T is horrible at sports she is just taking after both her parents!

The rest of the day was spent at home.  It was rainy and there was not much to do out.  M and I splurged and ordered Sushi for dinner.  T ate Baked Ziti and if I wasn’t all excited to eat Sushi I would have had a lot more of that Ziti.  It was good.  It was part of the same batch M made for my birthday!

W Sisters Story T Smash

T has tries for months but today she succeeded in damaging my glasses.   Ironically this time it was an accident but the end result was rendering the glasses useless.   Thankfully I had a backup pair but they were giving me a head ache so i just got the original pair fixed so i am as good as new.   I think i need to listen to M”s advise.   She has been saying for months I need to buy a pair that is indestructible.   That search begins at kiddie nap time!

The Containment System is in Place

MC & I have procrastinated long enough.  We spent months pondering what baby gate system we should get.  In our defence we had issues with the length of the opening of the play area by the living room.  We wanted a friction mount system but nothing would work with a friction mount at that size.  We also didn’t want to drill a hole into the molding around the opening we were going to use.  We ended up having to buy a system that we drill into the wall but also figured out a way to not touch the molding.  Once we figured that out we bought a system but then found excuse after excuse not to set it up for 2 weeks.  Finally we found time to do it today.  The bigger gate took a while to get right, but the smaller one we use to block off the kitchen was thankfully a friction mount and it only took like 10 minutes to setup.

Teagan was babbling and crawling through the kitchen and turned the corner and saw the gate for the first time and just stopped talking and stopped moving to stare at it.  When we are with her we leave the doors open so she can crawl out and explore with us in toe.  She crawled into the living room and then started playing with the door.  I think she will be locking us out very soon.  At least we can contain her in her play area when we want to.  Well that is until she learns to climb over the gates.  She has already figured out that the bars are great for helping her stand up.

A New Media Center Unit

Today I put together furniture for the media center.  When we found out we were haivng a baby we knew that part of baby proofing would require us to replace my old media center.  What I had was open and had glass shelves.  We bought a new unit with drawers.  I was able to put the power strips and everything inside the unit so only a few wires go out of it into the outlets.  We can also get baby proofing stuff to lock the doors on the front of it.

We hoped to have this built sooner but when we got it the base piece was broken.  Crate and Barrel was really cool and sent us the replacement part with little hassle.  We spent most of Teagan’s nap assembling it.  MC then played with Teagan as I moved all our electronic gear to the new enclosure.  I am very pleased with the results!

Now all I need to do is finally order my new TV so I can get it mounted on the wall above this unit.

T Standing on Her Own

Sometime in the past week or so T started pulling herself up to a standing position.  She would try before and we would help her do it but within the past week she has been doing it much more frequently and totally by herself.  it is pretty cool to see her mastering a new skill.

She is also able to sit back down with some difficulty but she can do it.  M saw on a parents news group people saying their babies had trouble doing that for a while so at least we hopefully dont have to keep going into her crib to sit her down once she figures out how to do that in there.  Please no one tell T that she can do that.  She hasn’t figured out she can stand up in her crib yet.

She has been teething a lot recently.  Drool is everywhere but at lest she has 4 teeth showing now.  Two on top and two on bottom.  If I didnt see them I would hear her grinding them all the time.  Apparently that is her latest play time activity.  It sounds like it would hurt a lot but my dad said it doesn’t and she is testing out her new weapons.
