Two Offices In One Day

Today I started off in the office down town. I worked there for the morning and took care of a few meetings. Then at lunch time I went up to midtown for lunch and meetings the rest of the afternoon. It was a productive day. I stayed later than I anticipated but I was glad to get allot of work done!

Nothing spectacular happened at home tonight. Just relaxed and played a bit too much Xbox 360. I don’t do it all the time but I go through spurts of actively playing. I think I started one of those cycles on Sunday.

Grand Theft Auto 4

A few weeks after it came out I broke down and bought Grand Theft Auto 4. I have never played any of the other versions of the game, but I heard tons of good things about it and I was done with Mass Effect. If I haven’t said this before on the blog I will say it now. I am not a gamer. The stereotype for a guy in the Technology field is to be the huge computer geek and gamer. I may like my gadgets and all, but I have never been a hard core gamer. I didn’t buy my first gaming console until around two years ago. That being said, recently I have found that I do enjoy to spend some free time on the Xbox 360. What is funny is I know people that their lives revolve around the games. For me I will play if I have free time and nothing else to do. It is a great escape, but I cannot play for hours. It gives me a head ache.

So what does all that have to do with GTA 4? Well in my free time recently I have been playing, and it is fun. That game is so funny because it takes everything that is wrong with society and goes to the extreme with it in the game. Some of the stuff that goes on is almost comical. For the record I do not believe that game is for kids, but I don’t see why people wanted to totally ban it.

On a final note, I am glad I drive better in real life than I do in that game. I go through like 3 cars a day in GTA 4!

Mass Effect

My Thanksgiving vacation saw allot less free time than I thought I would have due to my recent purchase of Mass Effect for the Xbox 360. It is very addictive. I have spent an undisclosed amount of time in the past week playing. The good news is that since I have been back at work that my play time is almost non existence. So I am confident I am not addicted:) So far I give the game high marks for graphics, sound, and game play.

Xbox 360

Just this week I ebayed my Wii since I didn’t use it that much. It sat in the box for a month after I moved, and sat idle for 2 months before that at my old place. I was able to get a great price for it with the 2 games I bought, so off it went. I figured I would put that money back into savings, but that was not in the cards. Halo 3 comes out in a few weeks, and as much as I am not a huge gamer, I do play Halo. I will go through phases of heavy play, and then nothing for months. I have been like this for years. If it wasn’t Halo 2, it was Halo, or Half Life, or Dume, Duke Nukem, etc. I play till I get dizy from all the movement. I know I shouldn’t do it but I do.

It was because Halo 3 is almost out that I went out and bought a new Xbox 360. I picked up Rainbow Six Vegas to hold me over until Halo. Vegas is cool, but hard. The Xbox graphics are fantastic, but I am still not sure if $349 plus tax is worth it to play Halo! Right now I don’t care, I am just going to pre order Halo now!

Wii Fun

I finally rewired my TV so I can use the Wii this morning. I can tell you that after on a little while with this thing I can see how addictive it can be. The only limitation is my arm’s began to hurt. As I was breaking in my new system Jayson called and wanted to hang out. He brought his Wii controller over and we went head to head. He has had his Wii for longer so he kicked my ass at Wii Spots. Granted he is in better shape than I, but he did have more practice. After only like two hours I was tired. I am going to try to pace myself and do like about a half an hour a day with this. It is fun though!!!

Halo Monday

Today I meet up early with Jayson for some Philly Cheese Steaks by his house. Then it was off to John’s for some Halo. Actually it was halo 2, and then later that day we played classic halo. I always have fun playing even if I suck and always loose.

I did learn that I actually play better at Halo 1, vs Halo 2. Not sure why but my stats are always better.

I got to hand out for a while. I haven’t done Halo in a while so it was nice hanging with that group of guys. they are cool. I am actually thinking about an Xbox for my place now. I know the 360 is out, but everyone that I know who knows games say to wait and just get the original Xbox. I am pondering now…

Halo 2 Day Redux

Saturday was another all Halo 2 day. I met up at Johns and played Halo 2 for most of the day and evening. We had 6 people so it was a good game. John, Jayson, Dave, myself and 2 of John’s friends from work came over. In general I still sucked, but surprisingly I was not in last place for a good portion of the games. We played capture the flag and just shoot them up rounds.

I always have fun playing, but my eyes start to hurt after a while. John wanted to play poker at night. I was not into it. I was tired and I am not a fan of playing poker which requires concentration after playing a video game for 7 hours that requires concentration. We ended up going for Italian food around the corner from his place and then he drove Jay and I to the F train. I was thankful for that because by the time we got to the train it was already late and I didn’t want to wait for the 7 and then the 6. I just took a cab from the F train stop by jayson home. I admit I was lazy…

Halo 2 Day

I was sitting around on a Saturday afternoon like I normally do, and the funniest thing happened. I got calls from 2 people to have plans. Now I like having friday to unwind. I usually go out friday night, so Saturday is the day of rest for me. I have been going on Sunday’s, so I relax Saturday. Well jayson wanted to go shopping. I was all set to do that when John called and wanted me to play Halo. I decided to let Jay and Gretchen go shopping and I would frag (really get fragged) by John, Dave, and one of John’s friends.

We played Halo 2 for like 5 or 6 hours. it was fun. I get tunnel vision head aches when I play, but I still have fun. John has a 42″ plasma that we play on. I suck at first person shooters. I used to be good at Half Live but that was back in 2000. Even then Jay and John could still wipe the floor with me.

All around a geeky day, but I had fun. We ordered in and hung out. We were all going to head back to the city and goto a bar, but when we got to the door everyone realized that it was raining out. Fearing melting everyone bailed out of the trip, so I just went home. Everyone else went back in to play some more. I headed back to Manhattan since the subway run’s less frequently later at night, especially on the weekends.

After Work Scrabble

After work Cari convinced me to goto Dan’s and hang out. They were playing Scrabble. I was invited earlier by Dan and Jenn but I passed. Cari talked me into it since I had a terrible busy day. I ended up playing a round of Scrabble. Now first I have to mention if you don’t know me that I cannot spell. I mean I really CANNOT spell. I am not stupid (or I don’t think I am), but ever since I was little I had issues with spelling. it is partly due to a learning disability, but that is off topic. The point is for someone who considers themselves a terrible speller, how did I end up in a room with 8 people playing scrabble? And how did I actually have a decent score for half the game? Granted I ended up in last place out of the 2 others I played, but for a while I was actually giving them a run for their money. Come on people, I suck at spelling how can I do ok at Scrabble?

Halo Night

Saturday I went over to John’s and played Halo again. I still suck, but I have a good time.

I also want to note I had to take 2 Butabitol’s for a migraine, or potential migraine. I haven’t had to take the drugs in a while so it wasn’t so bad. The Med’s worked.

Those over to play were John (its his place), Jayson, Dave, Dave’s sister Cindy, a friend of john’s I don’t know, Joe, and his women Karen. Joe is up for the weekend from Baton Rouge. it was good seeing him. I haven’t seen him since my trip to New Orleans way back in December of 2001. It was fun.

John BBQ’s and we played Halo. It was fun. I didn’t get home till late. I am having sleep issues this weekend. Not sure if it is because of the apartment hunting stress, or the alison break up, or just because I cannot sleep or what.

I also went to the bank today to get my deposit money for the apartment I want to get. I had breakfast with my dad, and I hit the bank. I have to remember to go over to his place and show him how to burn DVD’s of photos.
